Hopefully that all made sense... >.<

So yeah this was made WAY easier and faster by the fact that I was using a proper screenshot tool (Lightshot).

Next up?
Well, I honestly have no ideas at all anymore. Any suggestions? If not, I am going to officially close this thing down. I think I've done what I wanted to do here.

YES! YES! YES! Thank you, Nash! Now I can make some better looking hand-drawn comics! YES! YES! YES! I've gotta make a pirate comic soon (but I noticed a bug in the archive, the digital art pages are not visible)!

@DeeBert: Yes, there is something wrong with smackjeeves right now.

I'll be honest - I've had the opportunity to work with GIMP far more extensively than I previously have over the past couple months, and I must say that it is very lacking upon close inspection. Extremely basic features that should be required for every program of this type and caliber are inexplicably missing, some tools are downright unintuitive and hard to use, and the whole program lacks a certain functionality that you find in most programs. Paint seems to be the better option in a lot of cases, and Paint.net is a little more functional than GIMP. Sometimes, the program feels like it's just incomplete or broken - you can't move a selection, for God's sake, and the layer system is insane. And don't even get me started on the text tool....

Basically, GIMP is pretty ridiculous. I wouldn't go so far as to call it truly bad, but it definitely is not my first, second, or eighth choice for any given project.

@imadoofus: to move a selection: cut and paste it. It's now movable. Paint is a worse option simply for the fact that it doesn't have layers.
I haven't really used anything else ever for spriting. I wouldn't use it for art ever again, personally, because for art, Gimp is a horrible program.
And y'know what, it's not for everyone. I'm so used to it, I can't imagine using anything else for spriting, but hey other people use other things and I'm cool with that.

How about a tutorial on how to mass recolor?

Reply Luigi_96, November 3rd, 2014, 9:49 pm

@Sara: Already done.

Hey, how about that effect from Dee Army when Sapphire was in the Mirror Chamber and everything went all colored?

Reply Luigi_96, May 5th, 2015, 5:15 pm

@SuperScratchkat: that's just a matter of editing the saturation of the colors.

Reply SuperScratchkat, May 5th, 2015, 5:30 pm

@Luigi_96: I know, but the way it's halfway colored is what I was referring to.

Reply Luigi_96, May 5th, 2015, 7:00 pm

@SuperScratchkat: Ah, right. Have one layer grayscale and the colored one underneath it (or vice-versa depending on whether the color is going away or returning) and then remove whatever part of the top layer you want the color showing through.

...I hope that made sense.

@Luigi_96: kk thanks
